Rating System

Gen – Fics with this rating, or fics with no rating, have neither excessive violence nor sexual content, and are safe for most audiences.

13+ – The fic contains themes that, while not explicit, may be inappropriate for younger readers.

Mature – The fic is intended for more mature readers and may contain excessive violence or sexually suggestive dialogue.

Adult – The fic is intended for readers who are of legal age to view adult material in their jurisdiction (18 and over in in most areas; 21 in others), most likely due to graphic sexual content.


Guide to Warning Tags

BDSM – S&M – D/s – M/s: The work contains depictions of consensual bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism, and may be presented in the context of a Dominant/submissive or Master/slave lifestyle.

Femslash/Yuri: A romantic or sexual relationship between two (or more) women. Generally, yuri refers specifically to characters taken from Asian media such as anime and manga.

Fetishism: In its most technical definition, a fetish is an object or situation necessary for the fetishee to achieve sexual gratification. It has come to be associated with desires that, while not always a must-have for the fetishee to be satisfied, add to his or her fulfillment of an experience. A commonly-recognized fetish is foot or boot worship; they can be as simple as a love for the feel or scent of leather, or as bizarre as amputation or castration. Fetishism is sometimes associated with BDSM.

F/f: Female/female relationships; femslash.

F/m: Female domination, male submission. The chances you’ll ever see that in this library are…not all that high.

Hentai – A word meaning something perverse, or a perverted person. It has also come to refer to a genre of anime or manga that depicts graphic, sometimes disturbing, sexual acts. It could considered synonymous with ‘lemon’ when referring to DJ/fanworks.

Het: An abbreviation for heterosexual.

M/f: Male/female relationships; het. Also Male domination, female submission.

M/m: Male/male relationships; slash.

Non-consensual, non-con: When a work is denoted as containing non-consensual elements, it normally refers to rape. Non-con BDSM may be present as well. Non-con BDSM without rape will be specified as such.
